Giving and Finances

Many people have asked us questions concerning our finances and how we’re able to afford our travels. People have also contacted us because they feel led by God to give us funds or they want to contribute towards our journey. Therefore, we’ve made this page for anyone who fits that description.

When we first started preparing for this world bike trip, we received a very specific instruction from the Lord. He asked us not to save up any money for the trip. He also asked us not to fundraise or pursue any sponsorship. God gave us one single instruction to prepare for our journey:

LEARN HOW TO PRAY.

That’s it! That was our only instruction. We received this word years ago, and since then we’ve been faithful to that command. Not once have we raised our own hand to make this trip happen in our own strength. Instead, God has been the one solely responsible for making this trip a reality. We simply pray, and God has been faithful to provide for us every step of the way.

For this reason, you as a reader will never be asked to give money or pay for our services, nor will we sell you any merchandise. This website doesn’t make us an income. We also don’t ask people for money as we travel. We don’t beg, and we don’t panhandle. We try not to make our needs known unless directly asked.

At its core, The Narrow Shoulder is a faith journey with God. Therefore, we’re learning how to pray and trust God for our daily provision. We’re also trusting that God has invited us to travel east around the world and He will make a way for us to accomplish this task.

That being said, we understand that although God can provide for us in a multitude of ways, He likes to use people to make a difference and answer prayers. If you have a strong desire on your heart to give us a financial gift, then Matt and I would be happy to accept your kindness. Here are some options:
